Bowl Rankings - Part 4

RANKING THE FBS BOWLS PART 4

We’ve finally reached the top-10 bowls of Bowl Season. These ten games will be special in their own unique way. We have the two Playoff semifinals, the New Year’s Six bowls, a potential shootout in the Alamo, intriguing games in Jacksonville and San Diego, and the only Bowl involving two conference champions featured here. So, let’s knock out the top-10!

10. Holiday Bowl: Oregon vs North Carolina, December 28, 8 ET on FOX

You like points? The Holiday Bowl could offer them in bunches! Bo Nix leads Oregon against Drake Maye and North Carolina in San Diego. Both teams had less than stellar ends to the season as the Ducks lost to Washington and Oregon State while the Tar Heels lost to NC State and Clemson. North Carolina will be without multiple defensive backs and wide receiver Josh Downs. Look for the scoreboard to be lit up at Petco as two of the nation’s top offenses square off.

9. Gator Bowl: Notre Dame vs South Carolina, December 30, 3:30 ET on ESPN

Two teams with similar season stories meet up in Jacksonville. Notre Dame lost at home to Stanford and Marshall but notched a win at Syracuse and a home blowout over Clemson. South Carolina lost to Missouri and Florida before beating Tennessee and Clemson and ruining each team’s Playoff hopes. The Irish will be without tight end Michael Mayer while the Gamecocks will be without Jaheim Bell and MarShawn Lloyd. South Carolina fans always travel well and that could prove to be a big advantage for Shane Beamer’s team.

8. Cure Bowl: UTSA vs Troy, December 16, 3 ET on ESPN

Welcome to the only Bowl Game that pits two conference champions against each other. Conference USA champion, UTSA, meets Sun Belt champions Troy in the Cure Bowl in Orlando. The Roadrunners are led by dynamic quarterback Frank Harris, who ranks sixth nationally in passing yards and ninth nationally in passing touchdowns. Troy’s defense will provide a stiff test as the Trojans are 16th in total defense and sixth in scoring defense. Look for a game that will capture the true essence of Bowl Season in this one.

7. Cotton Bowl: Tulane vs USC, January 2, 1 ET on ESPN

Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams leads USC into a battle against AAC champions Tulane at Jerry World. Lincoln Riley’s team will look to end their year on a high note with their Heisman winner and high-octane offense. Willie Fritz’s Green Wave look to put an amazing cap on an unbelievable season. Running back Tyjae Spears will be licking his chops after watching USC’s defense in the Pac 12 Championship. Watch out for the Green Wave.

6. Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs Kansas State, December 31, Noon ET on ESPN

Big 12 champion Kansas State plays Alabama in New Orleans in one of their biggest games in recent memory. Running back Deuce Vaughn will be the Wildcats ace in the hole while their stout defense will be on full display. That defense though will be tested against Bryce Young and the Tide. The 2021 Heisman Winner will be ready to show his stuff in this one. I get a feeling that neither team will be unmotivated for this one.

5. Orange Bowl: Tennessee vs Clemson, December 30, 8 ET on ESPN

Some are calling it the “orangiest Orange Bowl ever”, and that’s hard to argue. Tennessee and Clemson head to Miami with some questions ahead of their December 30th meeting. The Volunteers are in a major bowl for the first time in over 20 years, but will be without most of their offensive stars that made Tennessee one of the sport’s biggest stories. Quarterback Hendon Hooker is hurt while wide outs Cedric Tillman and Biletnikoff Winner Jalin Hyatt have both opted out. Clemson may have solved their QB issue in the ACC Championship Game, after DJ Uiagalelei struggled on the opening drive, Cade Klubnik came in and showed out. Look for Klubnik to potentially cook again against another suspect defense. Bet on the Orange Team…….

4. Alamo Bowl: Texas vs Washington, December 29, 9 ET on ESPN

The highest ranked non-New Year’s Six game on this list takes place in San Antonio. Texas and Washington have the potential to put on a real show in this one. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers will have to carry a slightly bigger load for the Longhorns offense after Doak Walker Award winning running back Bijan Robinson and backup Roschon Johnson opted out. Also, among the opt outs for Texas is linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, which could be a huge loss against a high-octane Washington offense led by quarterback Michael Penix. The Huskies and Penix were both among the biggest turnaround stories in college football this season. These two played a wild game at the Holiday Bowl in 2001, don’t be surprised if we get another shootout here.

3. Rose Bowl: Penn State vs Utah, January 2, 5 ET on ESPN

Ah, The Rose Bowl. There’s nothing quite like it. Penn State and Utah collide in “The Grandaddy of Them All”. Utah is back after last year’s heartbreaking loss to Ohio State while Penn State had a quiet 10-2 Season. The Utes lit up USC in the Pac 12 Championship Game and feel like they have unfinished business after last season’s Pasadena heartbreak. Will Penn State make enough plays against Utah’s defense? Maybe, it is the Granddaddy after all, and it never ever disappoints.

2. Fiesta Bowl: TCU vs Michigan, December 31, 4 ET on ESPN

TCU looks to continue their fairy tale journey in the valley of the sun against Big Ten champions Michigan. The Horned Frogs are led by Heisman finalist Max Duggan at quarterback. Duggan’s never say die attitude could be to TCU’s benefit in this one. Michigan has discovered an offensive identity down the stretch and are heavily favored to continue that trend. Michigan will be everybody’s pick but remember this, if the game is close, TCU will not wilt, you can bet your bottom dollar on that.

1. Peach Bowl: Ohio State vs Georgia, December 31, 8 ET on ESPN

This is box office! College football’s biggest stars will litter the field in this game. It will almost have a National Championship like feel to it. The Buckeyes have a new lease on life and will try to take full advantage on that lease led by C.J. Stroud and Marvin Harrison Jr. Georgia has another bunch of “Junkyard Dawgs” on defense and an offense that’s better than some people give them credit for led by quarterback Stetson Bennett and Swiss army knife tight end Brock Bowers. Buckle up, this has the makings of an instant classic.

So, there you have it. All 41 FBS bowls ranked. Enjoy Bowl Season everybody, and thanks for checking out this piece.

Bowl Rankings - Part 3

RANKING THE FBS BOWLS PART 3

We continue our countdown of the Bowls with Bowls 20-11. A lot of intriguing matchups and unique situations are featured in this grouping, so, let’s continue the countdown!

20. LA Bowl: Washington State vs Fresno State, December 17, 3:30 ET on ABC

After a wild up and down season, Mountain West Champion Fresno State is off to the LA Bowl to play an under the radar Washington State team at SoFi. The Bulldogs started 1-4 and looked to have lost star QB Jake Haener for the season to injury in a week three loss at USC. But Haener came back and so did the Bulldogs. They won their last eight games including a triumph at nemesis Boise State for the conference title. Wazzu had a solid year which included a win at Wisconsin and near misses against Oregon, Oregon State and Utah. Quarterback Cam Ward is a fun watch for the Cougars. So, if you like good QBs, the LA Bowl is your pre-Christmas treat!

19. Duke’s Mayo Bowl: Maryland vs NC State, December 30, Noon ET on ESPN

Ah, the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. The game that garnered headlines last year for the unique celebration for the winning coach – a mayo bath. Dave Doeren or Mike Locksley will be the recipient of the “honor” this season as old ACC rivals NC State and Maryland square off in Charlotte. Maryland is led by quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa who had a solid season, as did the Terps in general, just ask Michigan and Ohio State, who needed all four quarters to finish the Terrapins off. NC State had much higher aspirations prior to the season, but Devin Leary was shaky early before his injury, Ben Finley saved the Pack late, and the year was highlighted by another dramatic win over hated rival North Carolina in the finale. Both teams are strong against the pass, so an interesting game awaits.

18. Liberty Bowl: Kansas vs Arkansas, December 28, 5:30 ET on ESPN

The Liberty Bowl provides a unique matchup in the sense that both teams are disappointed to be here in a different way. Arkansas was highly ranked in Preseason after a nine-win season in 2021, but completely fell off and only went 6-6. Kansas got off to a jackrabbit start, but reality set in and they limped to 6-6. Still, Kansas should be pleased to be in any bowl. Kansas’ defense gave up 41 points a game in the last seven and Arkansas will look to take advantage of KU’s run defense which ranks last in the Big 12. Two shaky defenses on display in Memphis, expect points!

17. Pinstripe Bowl: Syracuse vs Minnesota, December 29, 2 ET on ESPN

If you like great running backs, then start spreading the news! The Pinstripe Bowl features two of America’s top runners in Syracuse’s Sean Tucker and Minnesota’s Mo Ibrahim. The Orange started 6-0 but then lost five of their last six. Minnesota has won four of their last five games, including a win at archrival Wisconsin in the finale. Despite the great running back battle, don’t expect a ton of points here, but a great running back battle (provided both play) means it gets a solid top-20 spot in these rankings.

16. Texas Bowl: Texas Tech vs Ole Miss, December 28, 9 ET on ESPN

Two teams who will no doubt have different approaches for this game meet up in Houston. Texas Tech looks to notch a Mississippi bowl double, if you will, having beaten Mississippi State in last season’s Liberty Bowl. The Red Raiders ended the year on a three-game winning streak which included an overtime win over Oklahoma (they beat Oklahoma and Texas in the same year for the first time ever). Ole Miss was in the top-10 in October but lost four of their last five games and limps into Houston. Simple math (I know, you were promised no math), Texas Tech plus Lane Kiffin equals points and wackiness! Take this one in. It could be one of the craziest of Bowl Season!

15. Sun Bowl: Pittsburgh vs UCLA, December 30, 2 ET on CBS

The cozy west Texas town of El Paso provides the backdrop for of America’s best and longest bowl games in the Sun Bowl. Proud programs Pittsburgh and UCLA make the voyage to the US-Mexico border this year. The Panthers won their last four while UCLA struggled a bit at the end but still went a rock solid 9-3. The Bruins haven’t won a bowl in seven seasons but aim to change that with quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson running the show. Pitt has had their moments, too, but will be without quarterback Kedon Slovis, who hit the portal again after just one season. Here’s hoping for another El Paso classic!

14. Reliaquest Bowl: Mississippi State vs Illinois, January 2, Noon ET on ESPN2

This game has taken a dark turn after the death of Bulldog Head Coach Mike Leach. On the field this game should be another classic SEC-Big Ten battle. Mississippi State quarterback Will Rodgers will aim to exploit an Illinois pass defense which is the weak spot of the team. Illinois counters with running back Chase Brown, one of the top ball carriers in the United States who helped Illinois to a surprising season. Expect the Bulldogs to come out fighting with full focus and a heavy heart in Tampa on the second day of 2023. And besides, do you really think they’ll be flat in a game played in a stadium with a pirate ship in it?

13. Citrus Bowl: LSU vs Purdue, January 2, 1 ET on ABC

A pair of teams who dropped conference championship games meet in the other January SEC-B1G battle at the Citrus Bowl. Brian Kelly had an amazing first season in Baton Rouge, highlighted by a win over Alabama, which helped propel the Tigers to an SEC West title. Purdue survived the Big Ten West but lost coach Jeff Brohm to his alma mater Louisville. Quarterback Aidan O’Connell is aiming to replicate his performance against an SEC team in a bowl last year when he torched Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. Wide receiver Charlie Jones is his main weapon (Al DeRogatis taught him everything he knew, those of a certain age will get that reference). A game that could provide any myriad of outcomes is in the cards in Orlando.

12. Cheez-It Bowl: Oklahoma vs Florida State, December 29, 5:30 ET on ESPN

Okay, I probably do have this one ranked a bit high. I can take the criticism, but come on, Oklahoma and Florida State in a bowl just sounds lovely. The Sooners limp into Orlando at a disappointing 6-6 for first year coach Brent Venables and will be looking to take any positive into 2023. That might be difficult against a Florida State team that looks as if they’re on the way back to big time national relevance. The Seminoles averaged 44 points per game in the last five contests, all of which were wins. Jordan Travis will start his 2023 Heisman campaign in this game and could have a field day against a Sooner defense that gave up an average of 32 points per game in their last four games. Still, The Sooners and Noles on the same field just makes you perk up as a CFB fan.

11. Fenway Bowl: Cincinnati vs Louisville, December 17, 11 AM ET on ESPN

We can only hope that the third time is the charm for the Fenway Bowl, because boy do we have some spice in this one. Perhaps it’s fitting that the name of the title sponsor for this game is Wasabi. Cincinnati and Louisville renew their rivalry for “The Keg of Nails” for the first time since 2013… spicy. The two teams will share a sideline during the game… spicier. Oh, there’s the small matter of Scott Satterfield being named the new coach at Cincinnati, you know, the same Scott Satterfield that coached the last four seasons at Louisville… nuclear spice. Fenway Park knows a thing or two about rivalries and bad blood. The game itself may be a mere backstory here. Hopefully now you understand why this game was one spot away from the top-10.

Bowl Rankings - Part 2

RANKING THE FBS BOWLS PART 2

We continue our ranking of all 41 FBS Bowls here in part two. Here, we rank Bowls from 30 to 21. Among the games featured here, A game that’s rich in nostalgia, two Group of Five conference title game losers squaring off, a feel-good story, and perhaps the birth of what could be a fun regional rivalry. Let’s roll!

30. Independence Bowl: Louisiana vs Houston, December 23, 3:30 ET on ESPN

Louisiana was expected to take a step back in their 1st season without Billy Napier and the Ragin’ Cajuns indeed only went 6-6. Houston will go down as one of 2022’s biggest disappointments. A team many projected to be the Group of Five’s New Year’s Six representative could only muster a 7-5 record. Quarterback Clayton Tune will lead Houston, he threw for 37 touchdowns on the season, The old motivation factor may come into play here, does Houston really want to be in Shreveport to end a rough year by their lofty expectations?

29. New Mexico Bowl: SMU vs BYU, December 17, 7:30 ET on ABC

The New Mexico Bowl is often one of the more ridiculed bowls among those that pile on the bowl system, but this season, at least they hit it out of the park in terms of nostalgia. SMU and BYU played in one of the most thrilling bowls of all time in the 1980 Holiday Bowl. BYU rallied from a big deficit and scored on a Hail Mary at the gun. This year’s meeting could be exciting too. Both teams are 7-5 and have had their moments. SMU has of the better quarterbacks you may not know that much about in Tanner Mordecai; he threw for 31 TDs and 3,306 yards with 10 of those touchdowns going to WR Rashee Rice. After a 4-1 start, BYU went just 3-4 down the stretch but did win their last three. Their defense wasn’t up to usual standard, hence why they made a change at defensive coordinator with Weber State Coach Jay Hill accepting that position. Also, it’s BYU in a bowl, that’s the perfect enough recipe for fun and craziness.

28. Frisco Bowl: North Texas vs Boise State, December 17, 9:15 ET on ESPN

The Frisco Bowl pits a pair of teams who lost in their respective conference championship game against each other. North Texas comes into this game in a bit of limbo after the firing of head coach Seth Littrell while Boise State overcame a rough start to salvage a solid 9-4 season. North Texas is led by quarterback Austin Aune and his 32 touchdowns. Boise State’s top weapons are quarterback Taylen Green and running back George Holani. Points could be in the offing here.

27. Armed Forces Bowl: Baylor vs Air Force, December 22, 7:30 ET on ESPN

Baylor started the year ranked in the top-10 after a Big 12 title and Sugar Bowl win in 2021. 2022 was a different kettle of fish, only going 6-6 for this year. Meanwhile Air Force won nine games and the Commander in Chief’s Trophy in another rock-solid season for Troy Calhoun’s men. Baylor comes in losers of their last three which caused a staff shakeup (DC and ST Coaches both fired). Air Force will be led by 1,000-yard rusher Brad Roberts and are aiming for a ten-win season.

26. Myrtle Beach Bowl: Marshall vs UConn, December 19, 2:30 ET on ESPN

There’s a lot of good about this game. Neat venue? Check. One team that will bring more than enough fans to create a great atmosphere? Check. (Trust me, West Virginians claim Myrtle Beach as their unofficial second home so there will be plenty of green) Team that hasn’t been Bowling in forever after years of futility? Check. Marshall vs. UConn is one of those games that makes Bowl Season special. The Herd notched a September win at Notre Dame and come to the grand strand on a four-game winning streak. UConn went 6-6 in Jim Mora’s first season in charge and has brought nothing but positivity and good play to UConn Football. Something that was sorely lacking. Should be a good one on the Teal Turf!

25. Guaranteed Rate Bowl: Wisconsin vs Oklahoma State, December 27, 10:15 ET on ESPN

It was a disappointing season for both Wisconsin and Oklahoma State. But it still looks tasty for one major reason - the contrasting styles. Mike Gundy and the Pokes like to score, the Badgers like to grind it out. Neither team will have their starting quarterback as both hit the portal. But this game on the baseball field in Phoenix has had a knack for crazy games in its past. Let’s see what happens this time.

24. Gasparilla Bowl: Wake Forest vs Missouri, December 23, 6:30 ET on ESPN

ACC vs. SEC in Tampa as Wake and Mizzou square off. Wake may or may not have star QB Sam Hartman for this one while Mizzou won their sixth in the finale. One wonders where Wake would’ve been had they finished off games against Clemson and North Carolina. Missouri’s up and down year included losses to Florida and Auburn but wins over South Carolina and Arkansas. Losing wide receiver Dominic Lovett to the portal will be a big loss for the Tigers. Brady Cook will need to step up big time for Mizzou.

23. Birmingham Bowl: Coastal Carolina vs East Carolina, December 27, 6:45 ET on ESPN

Ah! This one has the making of a doozy. The start of a fun regional rivalry? Maybe so! Coastal Carolina and East Carolina should probably be playing every year already. Now we get it in Birmingham in Bowl Season. The Chanticleers are in an interesting predicament coming into this game. No Jamey Chadwell as he’s off to Liberty, quarterback Grayson McCall is in the transfer portal, but oddly enough will play in the bowl. New coach Tim Beck will be watching to see how his new weapons will perform. East Carolina is back in a bowl, and will no doubt be ready to go with QB Holton Ahlers leading the offense, and they may need points, did you see the defense the last two weeks? If you didn’t, they gave up 42 points to Houston and 46 to Temple. It’s a Carolina invasion of the Magic City. Expect fun. Hopefully this is the start of a future series?

22. Military Bowl: UCF vs Duke, December 28, 2 ET on ESPN

Duke goes for an improbable ninth win of the season against the Gus Bus in Annapolis. ACC Coach of the Year Mike Elko has one of the more underrated QBs in Riley Leonard, who threw for 391 Yards in the finale against Wake Forest. UCF lost to Tulane in the AAC Championship and is in a bit of QB limbo. John Rhys Plumlee is banged up and Mikey Keene hit the portal, Motivation could be a factor here.

21. Las Vegas Bowl: Florida vs Oregon State, December 17, 2:30 ET on ESPN

Oregon State is ranked 14th in the country and is aiming for a tenth win against Florida in Sin City. The Gators will start Jack Miller at QB after Anthony Richardson declared for the NFL Draft and opted out. Oregon State’s offense put up at least 31-points in each of their last three games which included a thrilling come from behind win over Oregon. That could be trouble for a Florida defense which has been leaky all season. Still, an SEC Team in Las Vegas for a bowl just sounds fun. The Gators need a win for positive momentum, the Beavers need it to finish off a memorable season.

Bowl Rankings - Part 1

RANKING THE FBS BOWLS PART 1

Ah! The Holidays. A time where we celebrate. Celebrate with friends and family, sing wonderful songs, eat lots and lots of delicious (and unhealthy) food and watch classic movies. It’s also a time where we enjoy something uniquely American. BOWL SEASON! College Football’s postseason is an amazing part of holiday celebrations all across the United States, whether you’re a CFB junkie or a degenerate who watches games for entertainment purposes or as background noise at a holiday party. Bowl Season has provided many exciting moments over the years and this year promises to be no different, storylines, regional battles and other unique subplots should make this another fascinating Bowl Season. Don’t let the talking heads fool you, these games still have meaning and there is no such thing as too many Bowls. So, without further ado, here’s our ranking of every FBS bowls from 1-41. We’ll start from the bottom and work our way to the top. Part one will be Bowls 41-31.

41. Music City Bowl: Iowa vs Kentucky, December 31, Noon ET on ABC

You’re probably wondering why I would put a game with 2 Power 5 Teams Rock Bottom on my list especially when the 2 teams played one of the better Bowl Games last seasons, and therein lies one of many problems with this game. One of the things that makes Bowl Season Unique is that you get matchups you do not always get. Who wants a Rematch? And to top it all off, it will be nowhere near the quality of last season’s game. Both offenses are outside of the Top 100 in scoring, Both Defenses are Top 15 in scoring; Iowa will be playing with its third string QB, Kentucky with its backup after Will Levis opted out, and very few 1st string WR will play as well. This game has very little redeeming qualities to it. But, will I watch? Probably

40. First Responder Bowl: Memphis vs Utah State, December 27, 3:15 ET on ESPN

These 2 teams are usually among the best teams in the Group of Five. However, not this year as both teams could only muster 6-6 records. Seth Henigan can sling it for Memphis at QB and Utah State has RB Calvin Tyler Jr. who ran for seven TDs this season. This game could be entertaining, but it has very little sex appeal at the moment

39. Camellia Bowl: Georgia Southern vs Buffalo, December 27, Noon ET on ESPN

Another battle of 6-6 Group of 5 Teams takes place in Montgomery, Alabama as Georgia Southern meets Buffalo. The Eagles won at Nebraska and beat hated Rival Appalachian State in the Finale to seal a Bowl Bid in Clay Helton’s 1st Season. Buffalo also had to win its finale to punch their ticket to Bowl Season as the Bulls came from behind to beat lowly Akron. Eagles QB Kyle Vantrease threw 25 TDs during the season as the star attraction. Buffalo’s Bowl unveiling video seemed to indicate a team excited to be Bowling. We’ll see what happens at the Cramton Bowl.

38. Quick Lane Bowl: New Mexico State vs Bowling Green, December 26, 2:30 ET on ESPN

I’ll be honest, I feel kind of bad putting this game this low. Both teams are feel good stories. Jerry Kill has the Aggies in a Bowl for just the fifth time in school history while in a make it or break it year for Scot Loefler the Falcons reached a Bowl for the 1st time since 2015. But I had to rank it somewhere. No way can you question the motivation of either of these teams so it should make for a compelling game in the Motor City.

37. New Orleans Bowl: Western Kentucky vs South Alabama, December 21, 9 ET on ESPN

This game could be your typical Bowl shootout WKU QB Austin Reed went into the Transfer Portal, only to come back to the Hilltopper program. The Hilltoppers can light up the scoreboard quick, fast and in a hurry. Meanwhile, South Alabama had a quiet 10-2 season under Coach Kane Wommack. The two Jaguar losses? To UCLA and Troy by a grand total of 5 points. Fireworks should be aplenty in the Big Easy.

36. Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Eastern Michigan vs San Jose State, December 20, 3:30 ET on ESPN

Both these teams were once among the Sport’s Bottom Feeders. Now both are making Bowl Games a habit. Eastern Michigan is in its fifth Bowl in seven Years while San Jose State appears in its second in three Years. The Eagles beat Arizona State and both of their in-state conference rivals. San Jose State had a good year, but a closer look reveals that only one of their seven wins came against a team in a Bowl.

35. LendingTree Bowl: Rice vs Southern Miss, December 17, 5:45 ET on ESPN

2 former Conference Rivals that make a return to the postseason square off in Mobile. Rice is the only 5-7 team that made a Bowl this season and is limping to Mobile having lost 3 straight while Will Hall brought the good times back to Hattiesburg this season which included a win over Tulane, no doubt USM Fans should show up in full force for this one. Frank Gore Jr. is the name you need to know. He’s USM’s star RB.

34. Boca Raton Bowl: Liberty vs Toledo, December 20, 7:30 ET on ESPN

Folks, It’s simple. This game is never good. Every year an entertaining matchup is promised and every year we’re left disappointed in the wake of a Boca Blowout. Bet on it happening again this year. Toledo won the MAC and have a stud QB in DeQuan Finn. Liberty lost Hugh Freeze to Auburn, and is coming off a blowout loss to New Mexico State in the finale. Yeah. Don’t get your hopes up this year for a good Boca Bowl either.

33. Bahamas Bowl: UAB vs Miami (OH), December 16, 11:30 AM ET on ESPN

The 1st Bowl of Bowl Season takes place in the Bahamas. UAB had a trying season by their standards under an interim and coach and finished 6-6. Miami (OH) also finished 6-6 as they beat Ball State in the Finale to claim their spot in this game. UAB RB Dewayne McBride ran for a career high 272 yards in the finale vs. Louisiana Tech and will no doubt be looking to impress new Blazer Coach Trent Dilfer.

32. Arizona Bowl: Ohio vs Wyoming, December 30, 4:30 ET on Barstool

There are many reasons why a good amount of people won’t be watching this game. The Bobcats lost in the MAC Title Game while the Cowboys had another solid year under Craig Bohl. The Bobcats had a seven Game Winning Streak snapped in the title game loss while Wyoming enters on a 2-game losing streak. This should be an interesting contest…. even if it won’t be highly viewed.

31. Hawaii Bowl: Middle Tennessee vs San Diego State, December 24, 8 ET on ESPN

*Knocks on Wood* This Christmas Eve tradition gets renewed at long last this season in a new venue! Both Middle Tennessee and San Diego State took interesting paths to their respective 7-5 records. QB Chase Cunningham and WR Jaylin Lane key the Blue Raider offense; their season highlight was a late September Win at Miami and won their last three games to get here. San Diego State had a 3-game win streak snapped in a 10-point loss to Air Force in the finale. You can watch A Christmas Story afterwards. Enjoy the return of a Christmas Eve Classic.

Ovechkin Chases #800 and More This Week

Alexander Ovechkin seems to make some kind of history every night he hits the ice for the Washington Capitals. Ovechkin is currently on a 3-game goal streak with four goals in that span, and with a goal on Sunday night against Winnipeg, Ovechkin is now just three goals away from becoming just the third player in NHL history to reach 800 career goals and just five goals away from overtaking Gordie Howe to become the second highest goal scorer in NHL history. Ovechkin's chase for history continues on USRN this week along with a Tuesday Night Hockey stop in Winnipeg while Friday Night Hockey heads to Minnesota.

As has been the case with the entirety of this World Cup, the final four matches will be on the USRN family of networks. USRN will also be offering an alternate broadcast of both semifinal games on the USRN YouTube channel with Tom Dillon anchoring the coverage.

Saturday Night Hoops on USRN

College Basketball has long been a staple on USRN. Of course, the first broadcast we ever had on this network was the 2017 Final Four. All this time later, here we are introducing something brand new at the network.

Starting this Saturday night, primetime College Basketball takes center stage on USRN every Saturday night, save for Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve, with our newest package, USRN Saturday Night Hoops. The package will feature the best teams from the premier conferences in all of college basketball. It begins with a doubleheader featuring the defending National Champion Kansas Jayhawks taking the 9-0 Missouri Tigers in the 269th renewal of their great Border War rivalry with tip-off slated for 5:15pm EST. Once done from Columbia, we'll head out to Vegas for a top-fifteen matchup between Arizona and Indiana in the first ever meeting between the two programs.
